Emily Mitchell Biography

Professional portrait of actress Emily Mitchell

Emily Mitchell is a Canadian actress who began working professionally at a young age and has quickly built an impressive body of work across film and television. From major studio productions to character-driven dramas, Emily has had the opportunity to work alongside some of the industry’s most respected actors and filmmakers while developing a genuine love for being on set and bringing new characters to life.

Emily made her feature film debut as Miep Friesen in Women Talking (2022), directed by Sarah Polley and adapted from the bestselling novel by Miriam Toews. She went on to play Michelle Schmitt in Ordinary Angels (2024) alongside Hilary Swank and Alan Ritchson, followed by Penny Brooks in Disney’s Out of My Mind (2024), based on Sharon M. Draper’s bestselling novel. Her more recent work includes Aly in Paramount’s Vicious (2025) and Katie in Lee Cronin’s The Mummy (2026). Emily will also portray JonBenét Ramsey opposite Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen in the limited series The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey (2026).

Although Emily has worked across a variety of genres, she especially enjoys roles that give her something deeper to explore. She has a natural love for emotional and dramatic material and enjoys finding the smaller details that make a character feel like a real person rather than simply someone on a page. She is just as happy stepping into the worlds of comedy, family films, thrillers and horror, and loves that every project gives her the chance to do something a little different. For Emily, some of the best parts of acting happen beyond the finished scene. She loves travelling for projects, getting to know a new cast and crew, and experiencing all of the little moments that happen behind the scenes. When she isn't working, she enjoys being home, going to school and spending time with her family and friends.

As she continues to grow both on and off screen, Emily remains most excited by the part that made her fall in love with acting in the first place: getting a new script, discovering who her character is and finding her own way to bring that character to life. Emily is based for work in Toronto, Canada and Buffalo, New York, and works on productions throughout Canada, the United States and internationally.
